How to use this tool

Enter each completed assessment's score and share of the whole course.

Choose required final-exam score to work toward a target. Completed weights and final-exam weight must then add to 100%.

Current grade = Σ(score × weight) / Σ(completed weights)

Worked example

86% · current weighted grade

Fixed example using the settings below. Monetary examples use USD; dates and times use their stated reference values. This example stays unchanged when you edit your calculation.

Example inputs
  • Calculation: Current weighted grade
  • Scores and course weights: 80,20; 90,30

Method illustration: An 80% score weighted at 20% and a 90% score weighted at 30% give an 86% current grade. If the final is worth 50%, an 84% final reaches an 85% course grade.

Assumptions and limits

  • Scores and weights are percentages between 0 and 100. Current grade normalizes only the assessments entered.
  • In final-exam mode, completed weights and the final-exam weight must total 100%. No letter-grade scale is assumed.
