How to use this tool
Define the grade-to-points scale your institution uses, then enter each course's grade and credits.
For cumulative GPA, include the previous GPA and graded credits on the same scale. Check local repeat-course and exclusion policies separately.
GPA = sum(grade points × credits) / graded credits
Worked example
3.5 · term GPA
Fixed example using the settings below. Monetary examples use USD; dates and times use their stated reference values. This example stays unchanged when you edit your calculation.
Example inputs
- Grading scale: grade, points: A,4; B,3; C,2; D,1; F,0
- Courses: name, grade, credits: Algebra,A,3; Writing,B,3
- Previous cumulative GPA: 0
- Previously attempted graded credits: 0
Method illustration: An A at 4 points and a B at 3 points, each worth 3 credits, gives 3.5 GPA.
Assumptions and limits
- You define the grading scale. Repeated-course, pass/fail, transfer and institutional exclusion policies are not inferred.
Check or report a result
