Worked example

240 · result

Fixed example using the settings below. Monetary examples use USD; dates and times use their stated reference values. This example stays unchanged when you edit your calculation.

Example inputs
  • Expression: (125 + 75) * 1.2

Method illustration: (125 + 75) × 1.2 = 240. Standard precedence gives 2 + 2 × 3 = 8.

Assumptions and limits

  • Percent is a mathematical postfix operation: 10% means 0.1. To add 10% to 200, enter 200 × (1 + 10%).
  • Exponentiation is right-associative: 2^3^2 = 512. Arithmetic uses JavaScript floating-point numbers; results display up to 10 decimal places.
  • Memory and the calculation tape last for this visit. Save a result to keep it on this device.

Check or report a result

Check the units, selected calculation and assumptions first. Compare the fixed example above with your inputs to identify what changed.
