How to use this tool
For each pack, enter its price, quantity per item, item count and unit.
Compare matching dimensions such as grams and kilograms. A mass-to-volume comparison needs an ingredient density and is outside this tool.
Unit price = pack price / (quantity × count × unit factor)
Worked example
Pack B · better unit price
Fixed example using the settings below. Monetary examples use USD; dates and times use their stated reference values. This example stays unchanged when you edit your calculation.
Example inputs
- Pack A price: 5
- Pack A quantity per item: 500
- Pack A item count: 1
- Pack A unit: g
- Pack B price: 8
- Pack B quantity per item: 1
- Pack B item count: 1
- Pack B unit: kg
Method illustration: 500 g at 5 costs 10/kg; 1 kg at 8 costs 8/kg.
Assumptions and limits
- Compare only compatible dimensions. Mass and volume cannot be compared without density.
