How to use this tool
Enter the line-item amounts, one tax rate and whether the amounts already include tax.
Read the before-tax, tax and total amounts together. This tool does not determine the legally applicable rate.
Tax-inclusive = net × (1+rate); net = inclusive / (1+rate)
Worked example
$135.00 · tax-inclusive total
Fixed example using the settings below. Monetary examples use USD; dates and times use their stated reference values. This example stays unchanged when you edit your calculation.
Example inputs
- Line item amounts: 100; 25
- Entered tax rate (%): 8
- Amounts are: Before tax
Method illustration: 100 before 8% tax becomes 108; 108 inclusive contains 8 tax.
Assumptions and limits
- No jurisdiction is inferred. Applies one uniform entered rate and rounds the final total, not individual tax lines.
