How to use this tool
Choose the exact cup, spoon, volume or mass standard you need.
For volume-to-mass conversion, enter an appropriate measured ingredient density. A cup of one ingredient does not weigh the same as a cup of another.
Mass(g) = volume(mL) × ingredient density(g/mL)
Worked example
125.391765 g · converted quantity
Fixed example using the settings below. Monetary examples use USD; dates and times use their stated reference values. This example stays unchanged when you edit your calculation.
Example inputs
- Amount: 1
- From: US customary cup (236.5882365 mL)
- To: Grams
- Ingredient density (g/mL): 0.53
- Ingredient / density reference: Illustrative flour density; enter a measured value
Method illustration: One metric cup of water at an assumed density of 1 g/mL weighs 250 g.
Assumptions and limits
- No universal cups-to-grams conversion exists. Density varies with ingredient, packing and moisture; enter your own appropriate measured value.
- US customary cups differ from US nutrition-label cups (240 mL); only the named standards are supported.
