How to use this tool
Enter the surface area, tile dimensions and grout spacing.
Set waste, tiles per box and price. Allow separately for pattern, edges and cuts that a simple area estimate cannot predict.
Approximate tiles = area / [(tile width + joint) × (tile length + joint)]

Example inputs
- Surface area (m²): 20
- Tile width (mm): 300
- Tile length (mm): 300
- Grout spacing (mm): 3
- Waste allowance (%): 10
- Tiles per box: 10
- Price per box: 25
Method illustration: 20 m² with 300 mm square tiles and no grout needs 223 tiles before waste.
Assumptions and limits
- Estimates material quantities only, not structural adequacy or code compliance. Verify measurements and manufacturer coverage/yield.
- Waste is added before rounding to whole packages. Material costs exclude delivery, labor and tax unless included in entered prices.
- Uses an area/module approximation. Edge cuts, patterns, joint layout and irregular boundaries can change the requirement.
