How to use this tool
Choose password length and the character groups you want in the alphabet.
Choose Generate, then copy to a password manager. Each character is drawn independently; selecting a group does not guarantee it appears.
Each position is sampled independently and uniformly from the selected alphabet
Worked example
These example settings describe the generator. Generated values vary; no specific random result is expected.
Example inputs
- Password length: 20
- Lowercase letters: Yes
- Uppercase letters: Yes
- Digits: Yes
- Symbols: Yes
- Exclude visually ambiguous characters: No
Method illustration: A 20-character password drawn uniformly from 80 characters has about 126 bits of generation entropy.
Assumptions and limits
- Generated on your device using crypto.getRandomValues and rejection sampling. No password is stored in favorites, saved scenarios or URL parameters.
- Character groups expand the alphabet; at least one character from every group is not guaranteed. Avoid narrowing the alphabet unnecessarily.
- Copy uses your clipboard, which other software may retain. Use a password manager for unique account passwords.

Check or report a result
Check the units, selected calculation and assumptions first. Compare the fixed example above with your inputs to identify what changed.
Report a calculation issue with the page address, hypothetical inputs, result displayed and result expected. Do not include passwords, bank details or other private information.
